A number of years ago now, after over a decade-long hiatus from Lego, I had begun to collect all the LEGO Star Wars sets. In time, I had quite a sizable collection. This was the first personal creation I did in about 14-15 years, 'completed' in October of 2004.
This Falcon had a number of problems, proper piece colors being one of the smaller issues. I had a number of different features I wanted to put into the ship, and I attempted to put all of them in there while ignoring an essential issue: supportive structure. Notably, that support frame is very tough to do if you also want to put in interior rooms. Expert designer that I (thought) I was, I built the rooms first and then built a ship around them.
The result was a model that stayed together mostly through prayer, although I was once able to transport it in my car to a meeting of Lego Fans, one of whom I drafted to help open doors for me and pick up the trail of pieces that fell off as I carried it (Thanks, Felix). With little space to put the Falcon in my home, I stuck it underneath my window. A window which my cat, Sofi, loved to stare out of. So after my cat using the Falcon as a launch pad, and even more so from my own feet kicking it, the Falcon eventually fell apart so much to the extent that I dumped it into a large bin before eventually taking it apart.
It is not totally gone. When I redesigned the Falcon in my next version, I had to design a new cockpit. This, however, was one of the better parts of my original design and there are many parts of it which I feel are much better (it is roomier, for one). I still have this cockpit module, tucked away behind it's successor.
