The design of this fish started when I had an inspiration for the legs. I built them and was satisfied, but they sat around for a long time while I casually thought about how the rest of it would go.
I couldn't just build the fish - I had to build the sub, too! I actually ended up building the sub first due to an influx of cheap Alpha Team sets about 3 months before I finished the fish.
Six months after the legs, the Opee was finished in time for Northern Illinois Lego Train Club's show at the Geneva Library in Geneva, IL, February 2006. It is 2 feet long, 15 inches high, and 7 inches wide.
